THE BAND...

Zaphica was a Santa Fe based jazz-rock group active from 2022 to 2026. Featuring Josh Waltman, Ash Mattia, Reid Meuth, Brody Silver, and Thor Rodriguez, the band developed a sound that blended intricate composition with improvisation and a deep, groove-driven feel. Their debut EP Inquisition and first full-length Directions introduced their layered writing, while live performances at venues like Teatro Paraguas and Paradiso built a reputation for high-energy sets. In 2024, they released their self-titled second album (recorded in just four days) which featured their first vocal track, “The Birth of Venus.” Over three years, Zaphica earned two New Mexico Music Awards and multiple nominations. Their final release, Live Zaphica, captures the band in full stride.
