THE BAND...

Zaphica was a Santa Fe–based jazz-rock-prog group active from 2022 to 2025. The band—Josh, Ash, Reid, Brody, and Thor—developed a sound that blended intricate composition with improvisation and heavy groove.

Their debut EP Inquisition and first full-length Directions introduced their layered writing, while live shows at venues like Teatro Paraguas and Paradiso built a reputation for intensity and risk-taking on stage. In 2024 they released their self-titled second album, recorded in just four days, which included their first vocal track, Birth of Venus.

Over their three years together, Zaphica won two New Mexico Music Awards and received multiple nominations. The group’s final release, a live album, captures them at their peak.
